About

Hello, my name Claire Sears, and I’m the creator of Aelf Makes.

The Aelf Makes workshop specialises in bespoke accessories, things for the home and keepsakes, made with recycled materials. Currently in the design stage are sewing and knitting patterns so that you can make some of the items for yourself.

Background

I am an artist based in Surrey, UK. Originally from Derbyshire, I lived in Scotland for some time, where studied Art and Design at Falkirk College of Technology. After leaving college I worked as a designer dressmaker, mainly making theatrical and Cosplay costumes, as well as bespoke accessories and designer wear. When I moved the South East, I decided to go back to college and received a ‘Distinction’ in Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at the Reigate School of Art, Surrey, followed by a BA (Hons) degree in Theatre Studies (Design) at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London.

Find me on Ravelry

For a hobby, I knit anything and everything – it seems particularly toys and novelty sweaters! You can find some of my work, and a small collection of patterns that I’ve written, at: https://www.ravelry.com/people/PixAelf (registering on Raverly required for access) – I’m always on the lookout for pattern testers, too!
